Consulting
Do you need support making sense of your CSR requirements, policies, and commitments?
Consultation engagement effectively allows you and your company to proactively establish or improve upon a CSR and supply chain compliance program from foundational to advanced levels.
Offered to individuals or small group sessions as focused topics or the entire programmatic needs.
You’ll walk away with:
Strategies,
A plan of action with an embedded management system approach and
Ongoing advisory services to support sustainable, continuous improvements.
Areas of expertise:
CSR and Your Company (Definition/Assessment/Alignment): Developing or enhancing your CSR program starts with understanding what CSR is, knowing the risks/driving factors involved, assessing where your company is with CSR, and planning/strategizing to align it with your company's values/goals. The leadership team will want to see the connection to support the program.
Supply Chain Mapping/Traceability/Risk Assessment and Due Diligence: Knowing the footprint of your supply chain (where your products are made/where the materials/parts come from) and any potential associated risks can help your company prioritize coverage and manage the risks proactively.
Stakeholders Assessment/Integration/Engagement Plan: Knowing and understanding your internal/external stakeholders' needs and wants (motivations) can help you formulate strategies for best serving them, including the support of leadership teams— critical for starting and continuing with your CSR efforts.
Materiality/Goals: Setting SMART goals about how you will implement your CSR program in alignment with what is most relevant to your company’s values will help your program be more achievable.
Management Systems and Policies/Code of Conduct (Code) Benchmark/Development: Benchmarking your CSR policies, such as the standards set in the code of conduct to local, international, and industry-leading practices, strengthens your commitment to CSR. And applying a management system structure will support your program to run more succinctly.
Training and Communications of Polices/Code: Conveying your CSR program and policies appropriately to the various stakeholders will help ensure more consistency in program implementation and leverage support accordingly.
Monitoring/Audits and Remediation: Checking your programs with regular audits to see if your policies/legal/code of conduct are followed and adjusting/making improvements (remediation) to your program is the key to operating smoothly and effectively, thus helping your company proactively manage the risks or assess any issues if they emerge and put in proper precautions as needed.
Focused Topics Guidance: Keeping up to date on new regulations and initiatives, such as the Modern Slavery Act, Forced Labor, Ethical Recruitment Practices, Migrant Workers, Grievance Mechanisms, etc., keeps your program relevant.
Beyond Compliance: Aligning your program and goals to the industry and global metrics such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Global Compact, Better Cotton Initiatives (BCI), etc., drives a more significant impact.
Coaching & Training
Do you have a commitment to CSR— but need to train your team to uplevel skills or better support initiatives?
If so, I can help.
I offer robust CSR training delivered in half-day, full-day, two-day workshops or modular base courses for a more comprehensive knowledge of CSR.
Training modules include:
CSR / Responsible Sourcing (5 modules): Taking all the topics in the consultation section above and delivering in a 5-day online workshop. It is hands-on, 2 hours per module, with pre-assigned reading and homework assignments. At the end of the course, you will have a tangible written plan/design on how to enhance or execute your CSR/Responsible Sourcing program.
Employee Engagement/Onboarding (1 module): Communicating your CSR programs to the people who work for your company is often overlooked. Your employees/workers are your biggest fans and supporters of CSR efforts. I can support and facilitate this training, from content development to coaching on delivering methodology.
Suppliers/Workers CSR (1 to 5 modules): Delivering CSR at the supplier level can be daunting because of many intricate layers. I coach and train suppliers, from direct finish goods manufacturers to their subcontractors, on how to successfully and proactively create or enhance CSR for sustainability, taking on a more ownership approach to CSR. NEW - Launching 2023 is a 5 module course on “Upstream Suppliers Social Responsibility and Code of Conduct Implementation Training.”
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration (1 module): Leveraging stakeholder's expectations is essential for your program's success; we often don't take the time to map them out and understand their needs/wants. This module guides you through a five-step process to understand and better serve your stakeholders (building stronger relationships and trust).
CSR Integration (1 module): Working together as a team and sharing CSR responsibilities internally drives efficiency. CSR is not just a silo team. To be most effective, it needs support from leadership, sourcing/procurement, HR, legal, logistics, workers/employees committees, managers/supervisors, etc.
Responsible Consumerism (1 module): Understanding the context of where products are made and the conditions in which they are made is valuable to your purchasing practices. A good start is looking at the labels of the clothes or any products like your phone or laptop and looking up information about the country where they are made and the company that makes them.
And more! Keeping up to date on new regulations, I recently collaborated on a project to create/deliver a policy and training on effective grievance mechanisms for supply chain workers in response to the new German Supply Chain Act.
Curriculum Development & Assessment
Do you need help enhancing or crafting a customized CSR curriculum for your team, company or suppliers?
I help companies, organizations, and suppliers with high-value curriculum development and design focused on CSR fundamentals and leadership development.
Curriculum development & design process includes:
Learning Needs: Identifying areas of the program for further learning, for example, what content to develop, who the audience is, and how it will be taught.
Learning Goals (Objectives) and Outcomes: Measuring/Mapping progress from one module/session to the next and meeting learner expectations.
Learning Methodology: Determining the appropriate methods for delivering the learning. Leveraging various learning/providing methods such as pre-reading, case assessment, research, and online and in-person classroom strategies for optimal learning results.
Learning Evaluations: Evaluating progress to ensure it meets stakeholders' expectations and recommendations for continuing learning.
Speaking & Workshops
Do you need an industry thought leader to speak at your next virtual or in-person events?
With my deep knowledge of CSR and a passion for teaching and sharing experiences, I can bring value to your next training, meetings, workshops, panels, forums, presentations, podcasts, academic classrooms, etc.
With my strong facilitation skills, I am engaging and a good listener with a curious mind to think deeply, and I encourage the audience to do the same.
